Bill of Lading (BOL)
When do I get my Bill of Lading (BOL) for a Standard shipment?
The Short Answer: When you book your shipment Standard with flexible pickup, or for a future pickup date, our goal is to upgrade your shipment to a shared truckload. Starting March 25, we’ll automatically generate your Bill of Lading once a carrier is scheduled for pickup – which will be some time before 9:30 AM local time on the final day of your pickup window.
The Long Answer: At Flock Freight, we specialize in combining multiple loads into one shared truckload. When you book Standard shipping, our algorithms work to find a shared truckload to move your shipment because we know it’s the safest, smartest, and most sustainable way to move freight. One of the ways we’re able to do this is by offering shippers flexible pickup windows for a lower shipping cost. When you choose flexible pickup, or book your shipment more than one day in advance, this gives us more time to find the right carrier to move your shipment and find other shipments to fill the rest of the shared truck.
If we’re able to upgrade your Standard shipment to a faster, safer, and greener shared truckload, your BOL will list a private carrier. If we’re unable to find the right match, your shipment will move with a regular LTL or Partial carrier. Once we know exactly how your shipment is going to move and when it’s going to pick up, we’re able to generate your BOL with the correct carrier listed.
If you pay a premium to book your freight for same-day, inflexible pickup, your BOL will be ready right away.
